We knew winter would be cold, but we didn't know how reliable the heating system was. We stocked up on wood in case. I built the wood stores from a mail order company in germany. A neighbour delivered the wood in a tractor which was exctiing for us, and we hadn't really met many people so it was interesting to meet the neighbour.
