This closed-off room was next to the bedroom and full of about 250mm depth of sawdust. In October and November the mice had gained access to it by climbing on the central vacum ductwork and the piles of sawdust that spilled into the roof cavity below like a ramp.
I wanted rid of it to remove disease source risk from the mice, to see what was going on in the room in terms of house structure, and to remove a potential dust and mold source.
Removing it all was a big task. The original window opening at the end was covered by the external metal sheeting that was added later. I replaced the older fiberglass plug in the window with stonewool, and then used the room to store stonewool bags.
I plugged the holes the mice had been using with thick compacted stonewool.
